Of course, we must pay attention to the review process. You will be expected to translate the review questions and answers into Spanish. |
Study the lección 5 story summary using the Historia (Spanish and English versions), noting and emphasizing new vocabulary and constructions. The story summary will be discussed in class, but if you miss that class or need extra copies, go to the links below. Remember that anything in the story summary could appear on the Spanish to English section of the exam. |
We will also have, of course, questions cover the lección 5 story line. Your exam questions will be taken from the following, which you will find here in various formats. Lección 5 -- Questions in English Lección 5 -- Questions and answers in Engish |

There are a few exercises in the text than can be useful for practicing the story line materials. Below, you will find discussions of these exercises and links to the answers and English translations. I will provide the English equivalent of the Spanish in each exercise so that you can check your comprehension and perhaps try to put the English back into Spanish, using the text as your answer sheet. Anything in these exercises could appear on the Spanish to English section of the exam. A few exercises also have special exam pages that could become part of an exam. |
(T 52) --- Actividad A. -- Paso uno Answer the questions about Raquel's investigation. |
(T 52) --- Actividad A. -- Paso dos Complete the paragraph with the appropriate words and phrases provided. This exercise will not appear on the exam as an exercise, but portions of the paragraph will be included on the page of translations from Spanish to English. |
(T 53-54) --- Actividad A. -- Por la mañana Match the characters with the statements that describe their actions. On the exam, I might ask you to reproduce these sentences in Spanish from the English equivalents. |
(T 54) --- Actividad B. -- Por la tarde y al día siguiente Choose a subject for each action to describe events in lesson 5. I will expect you to be able to translate these sentences from English to Spanish. |
(T 55) --- Actividad B. -- Una semana decisiva Put the events in chronological order by day of the week, starting with Monday. You will also be expected to translate these sentences from English to Spanish. |
(T 58) --- Actividad E. -- ¿Qué hora es? Write the times shown on the clockfaces. |
(T 58) --- Actividad F. -- Un día típico de Susan Match the drawing and the statements. Then complete the statements with the time of day. Be prepared to translate the English sentences back into Spanish. |
We also need to consider several exercises in the workbook. Again, I will provide discussions of the exercises and links to the answers and English equivalents. Anything in these exercises could appear on the Spanish to English section of the exam. A few exercises also have special exam pages that could become part of an exam. |
(W 40) --- Actividad C. -- ¿Qué hacemos? Complete the sentences using the nosotros (we) form of the verb. You will also be expected to reproduce the entire sentence in Spanish from the English equivalent. |
(W 40) --- Forms of address Spanish speakers in most of the world use ustedes when speaking to more than one person. In parts of Spain, the vosotros form is used. Study this section on the uses of both forms of address. |
(W 41) --- Actividad A. -- ¿Quién habla? Raquel and Elena are talking to the boys, Miguel and Jaime. Elena uses the vosotros form with her children. Raquel uses ustedes. Who is speaking? |
(W 42) --- Actividad C. -- ¿Qué deseas saber? (What do you want to know?) Using the cues provided, ask Elena and Miguel a series of questons. Use the ustedes form of the verb. Then match your questions with the appropriate answers. I won't ask you to create these questions on an exam, but I will expect you to understand everything that is said in both the questions and the answers. |
(W 42) --- Actividad D. -- ¿Qué hacéis? ¿Qué hacen Uds.? Following the directions in the workbook, ask the questions with the appropriate verb form. Make sure that you understand everything in Spanish. |
(W 44) --- Actividad B. -- ¿Adónde van? (Where are they going?) Using the lugares at the bottom of the exercise, indicate where these people will go in order to do what they want to do. |
(W 44) --- Actividad C. -- Voy a ... (I am going to ... ) Using the materials provided, I have created a series of sentences indicating what these people are going to do. Practice re-creating these sentences in Spanish from the English equivalents. |
