Course description:

This class will offer a broad overview of literature from all over the world. Poems, short stories, and novels will be read. Additionally, you will be expected to write essays of both the creative and expository variety. Creative writing assignments will include short stories, personal narratives, poetry, and collaborative writing.

TEXT BOOK: 

Elements of Literature. Various novels and handouts to be distributed later.

GRADING POLICY:

Test and quizzes………….....25%
Essays…………………….......30%
Class work/Free writing…...20%
Homework……………….…..15%
Class Participation………..…10%

HOMEWORK POLICY: 

Homework is to be turned in on the due date. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to make up the assignment and turn it in the day following your return. Late homework will not be accepted.

TARDY POLICY: 

My tardy policy is very simple. Don’t be tardy without a pass.

  • First three tardies will be excused.
  • Third tardy school will notify your parent/guardian, that regardless of circumstance, the next tardy will not be excused and will result in an in school suspension followed by a parent/guardian conference.
  • Fifth tardy you will receive an out of school suspension.
