Ms. Rinaldi                                                                                                             Fall, 2007

Class Requirements: Creative Writing

GENERAL RULES:

·         All school-wide rules apply in this classroom (no cell phones/electronics, no hats, attendance, etc.)

·         Students must arrive on time for class, or bring a pass explaining their lateness.  All tardy students will be sent downstairs to get a pass.

·         Students must bring a notebook, pen, and their book to class EVERY DAY.

·         STUDENTS MUST TREAT ONE ANOTHER AND THEIR TEACHER WITH RESPECT.

CLASSWORK:

·         Free-writing and in-class assignments are given and graded each and every class period.  Students must complete the daily work in order to succeed in the class.

·         Group work is required, and students must respect the work of their fellow students--friendship is not required, respect is.

·         Students will each be assigned dates to bring in quotes and writing samples for workshop.  If the student is absent he or she is expected to bring in the assigned work the day they return to class.  *Please note:  IF THE ABSENCE IS UNEXCUSED, THE STUDENT AUTOMATICALLY RECEIVES A ZERO FOR THE WORK.

WRITING PORTFOLIO:

·         In each 9-week marking period, students must turn in 20 credits worth of individual, "perfected" work.  (See "CREATIVE WRITING CHOICES" sheet for full explanation.)  *Please note:  Anything less than 20 credits worth will result in a failing grade for the marking period.

·         Each student must "workshop" at least four pieces each marking period.
