(page 129) --- The modal verbs können (to be able, can), wollen (to want), mögen (to like) Study the discussion of the modal verbs, paying particular attention to the following: 1. There is no ending on the ich and er, sie, es forms. We normally use the e ending for the ich form, and the t ending for the er,sie,es. Not here. 2.The singular forms use a different vowel from the formal and plural forms. 3. Modals are usually followed by a second verb. That second verb will be in the infinitive form and will come at the end of the sentence. Let's practice these verbs by doing exercise 2. |
