Let's not ignore the review process. I have prepared a set of review question and answers covering the first six lessons. You will be expected to translate these questions and answers from English into Spanish.

Lección 7 --- Review -- Questions and answers in English

Lección 7 --- Revista -- Preguntas y respuestas en español

Study the lección 7 story summary using the Historia (Spanish and English versions), emphasizing new vocabulary and constructions. The story summary will be discussed in class, but if you miss that class or need extra copies, go to the links below. Remember that anything in the story summary could appear on the Spanish to English section of the exam.

There are a few exercises in the text than can be useful for practicing the story line materials. Below, you will find discussions of these exercises and links to the answers and English translations. I will provide the English equivalent of the Spanish in each exercise so that you can check your comprehension and perhaps try to put the English back into Spanish, using the text as your answer sheet.

(T 71) --- Preparación. Actividades A, B, y C. Do you understand the Spanish in these exercises? If you have any questions, click on Preparación for the English equivalents.

(T 72-73) --- ¿Tienes buena memoria? Actividades A y B. These exercises simply lining up people with what they do. If you have questions about the answers or what everything means, click on ¿Tienes buena memoria?

We also need to consider several exercises in the workbook. Again, I will provide discussions of the exercises and links to the answers and English equivalents. Do with them what you will.

(W56) --- Saber y Conocer. Both verbs mean to know. We have already met both of them. In this lesson we will elaborate upon their use.

Saber = to know facts, pieces of information.

Conocer = to know (be familiar with) people and places. It also means to meet people.

Work on the following exercises and click on Saber y Conocer for answers and English equivalents.

Actividad A. (W 56) ¿Quién habla? (Who is speaking?)

Actividad B. (W 56) Las preocupaciones de Teresa Suáre

Actividad C. (W 56) ¿Y tú? (And you?)

(W 57-58) --- Yo forms of irregular verbs. (part 1) A number of verbs are quite regular in their conjugations, except for the yo form. Study the chart on page 57 in the workbook and do the exercises. Click on Irregular yo forms for answers and translations.

Actividad A. (W 57-58) ¿Quién lo dice? (Who says it?) In this exercise, it's just a matter of matching the person with the statement. I am mainly concerned with you understanding of what you read. Translate these statements and click above to check your work.

Actividad B. (W 58) ¿Qué haces? (What do you do?) This exercise calls for your personal answers, so my answers will simply be suggestions. The object is, of course, to understand the question (these are all tú questions) and answer with the correct yo form of the verb.

(W 59) --- Irregular verbs. (part 2) Study the chart on page 58 for more verbs with irregular yo forms, and do the following exercises. Go to Irregular yo forms - 2 for the answers and translations.

Actividad A. (W 59) ¿Quién lo dice? (Who says it?) Similar to the ¿Quién lo dice? exericise above, this exercise asks you to indicate who makes the statements. My principal concern is your ability to understand the sentences. Translate the statements and check your translations online.

Actividad B. (W 59) ¿Y tú? (And you?) Using the expressions provided, construct positive statements.

(W59-60) --- Actividad C. -- ¿Qué haces cuando viajas? (What do you do when you travel?)

This exercise is considerably more complicated than any other in this lesson. It consists of a series of questions and answers which you must complete with the appropriate form of the infinitive indicated. Find the answers and the English equivalents by clicking ¿Qué haces cuando viaja?
