Text

There are a few exercises in the text than can be useful for practicing the story line materials. Below, you will find discussions of these exercises and links to the answers and English translations. I will provide the English equivalent of the Spanish in each exercise so that you can check your comprehension and perhaps try to put the English back into Spanish, using the text as your answer sheet.

 (T 39) --- Actividad A.

Do you remember what has happened so far? You will be expected to know the meaning of these sentences.

(T 40) --- Actividad A. En este epidsodio

I won't ask you to put these events in order, but I do expect you to know what everything means.

Workbook

We also need to consider several exercises in the workbook. Again, I will provide discussions of the exercises and links to the answers and English equivalents. Selected exercises will appear on your exam. Check the exam description for details.

(W 30) --- Actividad A. ¿Quién habla? (Who is speaking?)

Who is saying these things? You need to remember the story line, and, of course, you need to understand what you see. Click below for the answers and the English equivalents. Then practice putting the sentences back into Spanish from the English equivalent.

Answers and English sentences

(W 30) --- Actividad B. ¿Quién lo diría? (Who would say it?)

Don't worry about the first column. I don't care who would say these things. I want to know what they say. I want the Yo form of the verb. I also want you to make sure you understand the whole sentence, and I will expect you to be able to reproduce the sentences in Spanish from the English equivalents.

(W 30) --- Actividad C. Miquel Ruiz Ramírez habla de sus actividades. (Miquel talks about his activities.)

Notice that Miguel is talking about himself, so all the verbs end in -o and -oy. In order to pick the correct word, however, you must understand the vocabulary of the exercise. If you have any questions about meaning, check the English equivalents. Then check your answers. I recommend that you also practice putting the sentences back into Spanish from the English.

(W 32) --- Actividad A. -- Las preguntas de Jaime (Jaimes' questions)

The key here is to understand the sentences. Keep pounding in the vocabulary. Make sure you understand the material and match the questions and answers. I have provided the English equivalents of the correct question and answer combinations. Can you put this material back into Spanish?

English questions and answers

(W 32) --- Actividad B. -- Ruiz Miguel habla con su hijo

Miguel is talking to his son, so he's using the familiar verb form. That's why all the endings are -as and -es. In order to pick the correct word, however, you must understand the vocabulary of the exercise. If you have any questions about meaning, check the English equivalents. Then check your answers. I recommend that you also practice putting the sentences back into Spanish from the English.

(W 33) --- Actividad C. -- Más preguntas para Raquel (more questions for Raquel)

This is basically the same exercise as Actividad A on page 32. The questions are the same and so are the answers. The difference is that Jaime is talking to Raquel using the formal you instead of the familiar. Rewrite these seven sentences using usted.

Video Scripts --- I have prepared a few scripts to accompany portions of the video. Study these scripts so that you have a better idea of what is being said in the video. Most of the words and expressions they are using are things that we have already studied, but they move along quite rapidly. I'm hoping that these scripts will make your video watching much more productive.
